Future Friday Campaigns

Join Us for Future Friday Campaigns! The PTSA Sustainability Committee is excited to announce the launch of our Future Friday campaigns, held on the last Friday of each month. Partnering with the Eastlake Environmental Club, these campaigns will continue through June, each highlighting a different sustainability theme aligned with the King County Green Schools program, such as water conservation, energy efficiency, and schoolyard stewardship. Our first campaign, the Sustainable Utensils Initiative, will take place on Friday, November 22nd. Plastic utensil waste poses a significant environmental challenge, taking up to 1,000 years to decompose and emitting harmful greenhouse gases. Each year, Americans use over 561 billion plastic spoons, with school cafeterias being major contributors. To address this issue, we will replace plastic utensils in the cafeteria with eco-friendly alternatives to promote sustainable practices. These campaigns are part of the TodayIsOurFuture initiative, which aims to bring together the community and schools by providing the tools and knowledge needed to adopt sustainable habits in daily life. We encourage you to discuss this campaign with your families and send lunches in reusable containers next Friday.
